Première représentation publique de Seiz Avel en 1972
In the late sixties, the city of Trappes became one of the most important railroad connexion points in France. Therefore the population of Trappes is 70% from Brittany. They brought with them their traditional Games, dances, and music.
To perpetuate and transfer this tradition from Brittany, Gisèle KERICHARD and Marcel FLOCH founded the Celtic Circle in 1972. The name SEIZ AVEL comes from an old Brittany's legend : « When the seven winds are blowing together, the storm is raging furiously ».
Some of the members of Seiz Avel were part of Alan Stivell Band ( Bagad ).Famous Players and dancers from all Brittany contribute to « SEIZ AVEL ». But Seiz Avel is specific by its colorful suits from PLOUGASTEL-DAOULAS.
Players and Dancers perform regularly in Paris'area. For the third edition of Lorient Festival, SEIZ AVEL participated: it was the first Celtic Circle from Pari's area to play at a this famous festival. In the eightie's and ninetie's , SEIZ AVEL often performed in local and cultural Festivals. SEIZ AVEL also contributed to some movies.
In 1998, SEIZ AVEL, took part at KENDALC'H traditional dances contest. In two years SEIZ AVEL reached the second category. During the period 1999-2001, SEIZ AVEL contributed to the musical comedy : « La légende de GWENDAL ».
Nowadays SEIZ AVEL is recognized as one of the most performing Celtic Circles of Paris's area.
This good fame brought its members to perform abroad: Germany, Great Britain, Italia, Tcheque Republic. In 2001 SEIZ AVEL represented FRANCE at the Beijing Inter-Cultural Festival in CHINA.
Since 1996, every year, SEIZ AVEL organizes a « FEST NOZ » : festival of the night. Taking place at TRAPPES, in late March, Bagad ( bands, groups ) and KAN A DISKAN ( pairs of singers) make this event so unique. Don't miss it !
